“This 50% discount offer is only for a limited time”

“Buy at this special discounted price until midnight tonight”

“We are going back to our original price when current stock runs out”

It makes you think you are getting a bargain, when in fact it was never priced at the exorbitant price anyway. At this stage the best thing to do is BREATHE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ……….. Remember you are in control of the situation. It’s your money and you’ve worked hard for it, so don’t throw it away!

When I first became suspicious about this tactic I did something they don’t want you to do. I added the website to my favourites and came back at another time …. And guess what? The FAKE DEADLINE was still there. I tested it again and again with the same results.

When I’m out shopping I also have to control my urge to emotionally spend, so if I really love something I ask the sales assistant to hold it for an hour. If I go back for it, then I know I REALLY want it. If I don’t then I know it would have been an EMOTIONAL purchase.
